‘A conflict between a dream of a perfect world and imperfect reality,’ this subject concerns everyone. And this very theme underpins any Dystopia.
The mankind has experienced numerous crises over the course of the past century: world wars, industrial revolutions, natural disasters, and world crises.
All of those events fuel up emergence of new dystopian stories.
The popularity of books, films, and games on that subject only prove that this genre gains higher and higher importance.
Analysis of games on similar subjects (Beholder, FrostPunk, XCOM, etc.) allows us to say that our target audience is made of a selection of people who bought some of the above games.
It will be mostly comprised of people aged 21-34.
This category of consumers will have a positive attitude towards genres [crisis strategy] and [dystopia].
It will appreciate the wide gameplay, including:
- turn-based tactical combats;
- a system of personal achievements;
- development and customization of game characters;
- a tree of politics and industry.
We cannot rule out its popularity among a different age group. It is likely to be caused by other, non-key features of the game and flexibility of the game platform.

PROJECT TIMELINE


COMMUNITY ECOSYSTEM
The current product architecture offers flexible scaling and rebalancing of the game both by our own efforts, and by the community’s efforts through involvement of external resources with no need for precompilation.
This functionality may form a strong community of modification developers around the game; and this will increase the product’s lifespan significantly.
LONG-TERM SUPPORT AS BUISINESS MODEL
We believe, that the best solution in terms of grand strategies will be employing the created game as a platform for content instead of releasing a new game each year.
Therefore, we propose a long-term development of Ataraxia through paid DLCs which expand the gameplay significantly.
And release of minor updates to add new items to the game.

FRANCHISE
The lore of the game is formed in such a way so that to grant freedom to create history of the game universe both involving hundreds of years before the current part, and providing an opportunity to move several millennia forward.
As a franchise for the current moment.
Ataraxia: Conflict
A part telling about a war which invoked the need for deep space colonization.
Ataraxia: Explorers
This part will address the launch of a colonization spacecraft and events in it.
The details of the game mechanics for this part have not been determined yet; and the whole bunch of concepts is still being discussed.
Ataraxia: Fallen
This part describes an accident at the colonization spacecraft and forced drop of settlers onto the planet. We, as a crew member, will have a chance to overcome the food deficiency crisis and establish the first outpost.
Ataraxia: Darknest
In this part, we will face the decline of civilization and will play the role of the stronghold ruler whose objective will be to withstand the resource crisis, as well as ideology crisis which will try to bring the city to collapse.
Ataraxia: Horizon
This part deals with the stronghold’s successful attempt to restore the colonization spacecraft which the gamer will do over the plot.
This part will take place at two levels concurrently: the planet and the on-orbit colonization spacecraft.
Ataraxia: Sunset
This part describes events on the planet with no mainstay of civilization on it left.
This part will tell about the decline of anarchy and establishment of a new society under the reign of the gamer who will unify raiders’ clans in the face of inevitable death.
Ataraxia: Sunrise
This part tells about the final stage of the colonization mission and creation of the first city on the new planet. This game will be designed as a city builder.

Will the Dome embody 1984 novel or become a theocratic state cutting down rights and freedoms of those who ‘fall out of God's grace’?
